Pregnancy is a vulnerable time for both the pregnant parent and developing baby. Information regarding the use of botanicals to address common pregnancy concerns ranges from using essential oils all the time to recommendations to avoid all botanical extracts because the exact safety of the botanicals has not yet been established.
Reality sits in between those two extremes, with both anecdotal and traditional evidence as well as clinical evidence to support essential oil use. People can have confidence that appropriate essential oil use during pregnancy is both safe and effective.
This course is for health care professionals, pregnancy support professionals, or lay people with an interest in the safe use of essential oils during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. The course covers essential oils that need to be avoided, as well as which essential oils have positive safety records. There will be a focus on clinical evidence for essential oil efficacy during pregnancy as well as suggestions for other appropriate essential oils to use for specific pregnancy concerns.
By the end of the course, students will feel confident in their ability to address common pregnancy challenges using safe and appropriate essential oils during all stages of pregnancy, from the first trimester through the postpartum period.

Meet Your Instructor
Meet Sherilyn:
Sherilyn Siegmund-Roach fell in love with essential oils when she spent a week in the hospital after a serious horseback riding accident. The nurse introduced her to aromatherapy when her pain levels were too high despite receiving intravenous pain medications.
She went on to study aromatherapy to become a certified clinical aromatherapist.
Her continuing herbal and aromatherapy studies focus on aromatherapy for pregnancy, children, hospice and palliative care, and animal aromatherapy. She consults, writes, and teaches for both online herbal and aromatherapy schools. Her passion for botanical remedies in all forms supports her on-going efforts to integrate herbal and aromatherapy wisdom to support her familyβs and clientsβ wellness.
Prior to becoming an aromatherapist, Sherilyn taught math and science in public schools in both rural and urban Alaska for 24 years. She currently resides in Tennessee with her husband, dog, and cat. She is actively involved with her children and grandchildren, who all live in different states.
