Essentials of Herbal Medicine

with Instructor :
Lindsey Feldpausch

Herbalism is the practice of plants as medicine, in its simplest form it is the connection between humans, health and the natural world.

In this 15-hour prerecorded introductory herbalism course we will travel through the foundations of the field. The goal is to connect with plants as medicine and learn how to safely engage with herbalism for yourself and your community.

Our studies will start with an overview of what herbalism is and the history of plant medicine. We will move into learning herbal energetics; through this you will gain an understanding of how to apply herbs to individuals and varying situations.

Learning to connect with plants and their medicinal properties, we will open up to the study of materia medica, wildcrafting and basic plant identification. Once you have an idea of basic energetics and materia medica, we will  bring the science of phytochemistry and solubility into our exploration of plant medicines.

We will dip out toes into the world of body systems as it applies in an herbal framework, while touching on the common ailments and how to engage herbs to assist with bacterial and viral infections.

Learning herbalism, through a clinical lens, necessitates basic understanding of food as medicine and how nutritional deficiencies can manifest. We will wrap up all of these studies with a discussion on how to intergrate herbalism into your life and practice.
