Meet Your Instructor

Joan Sorita was born in Los Angeles California in a Salvation Army Hospital. A lover of animals and music who has worked as a vet tech, riding instructor, and managed Olivia Newton John’s Farm. Co-founded Northwest school of animal massage in 2001 with Lola Michelin. Now heads The Animal Aromatic Science Department of www.nwsam.com. Joan is certified in animal and human massage, and aromatherapy with animals & people..She is also a certified NES Health Practitioner for Bio energetics and is an advocate for zoopharmacognosy (self-selection for animals using aromatics, nutrients, clays, dried herbs and flower essences).
Joan worked on passing a bill with governor Gary Lock on Animal Massage to carry on in Washington state, and created a curriculum with Lola Michelin that was approved by the veterinarian board for teaching. This was to keep Animal Massage Therapist working in the state of Washington. Joan added her 25 years of experience in the Equine performance world and veterinary clinics, shelters and private practice with bodywork and aromatics.
Joan, owns and runs an equine retirement Farm with her husband Robert in Montesano Wa. There they grow and harvest some of the ingredients for her products under the name Therapy Corner Store. Joan was the founder of Therapy Corner Store and now has passed the torch on to her daughter Casey Sorita so that Joan can concentrate on making her animal aromatic products and teach responsible, ethical, and safety with animals using aromatics.
