Energize Your Environment for Spring Equinox!

by Miriam Carl

“Equal dark, equal light
Flow in Circle, deep insight
Blessed Be, Blessed Be
The transformation of energy!
So it flows, out it goes
Three-fold back it shall be
Blessed Be, Blessed Be
The transformation of energy!”
– Night An’Fey, Transformation of Energy

March brings us two special events on the same day this year – the spring equinox and the Full Worm Moon! The spring equinox announces the first day of spring, when day and night become equal in both the northern and southern hemispheres. The Full Worm Moon celebrates the last full moon of winter. Native Americans used lunar phases to track the seasons, and gave special names to the full moon every month. At the time of the Full Worm Moon, frozen ground starts to soften and earthworms begin to emerge, attracting robins and other birds.

The natural world is coming alive! This full moon in March is also known as the Crow Moon, Sap Moon, Sugar Moon, and Chaste Moon. The Old English/Anglo-Saxon name is Lenten Moon. With the spring equinox and Full Worm Moon converging, we have all of nature’s signs to wave winter goodbye. Now is a time of new beginnings, fresh perspectives, and a feeling of energy and rebirth.
