WASPS!
I wanted to share a story with you that happened a few days ago. I was standing at my kitchen sink washing dishes and looking out the window when I noticed some wasps hanging around the wood railings of my deck. I didn’t want them to build a nest there, so I remembered reading that peppermint and lemongrass can help keep them away.
I decided to make a homemade spray using an 8oz spray bottle filled with half vinegar and half water. Then, I added a generous amount of peppermint and lemongrass oil (I didn’t measure exactly, I just wanted it to be strong). After shaking it up, I went outside to see where the wasps were building their nest, and sure enough, it was under the wood railing.
I sprayed the nest, and the two wasps flew away. It’s been about five days since I sprayed, and they haven’t returned! I also went ahead and sprayed under all the railings on my deck and other areas of my property where there were signs of wasp activity. And guess what? No more wasps building nests on my deck or outbuildings.
The lesson I learned is that wasps really don’t like peppermint and lemongrass! So, I plan to keep spraying every couple of weeks to keep them away. It’s an easy and natural way to keep my property free from pesky wasps.
