Cold and flu season is still lingering. It stinks. Sickness is triggered by so many factors: Stress, poor diet, excess or lack of exercise, and/or the strangers breathing all over you during your commute. Most people reach for fast relief from the drugstore shelf. I used to do the same but I found when I did that, there were usually lingering symptoms. My fever and aches would be gone but I would have a stubborn sinus or respiratory infection for the next month.
Once I brought essential oils into my life all of that changed. Essential oils restore balance and work with your body while drugs can block or confuse cell receptors and kill helpful bacteria in your body.
Simple remedies to strengthen immunity
Make an oil
You can use any organic cold pressed oil you have, but I like to use jojoba. It quickly absorbs into the skin on your neck, chest and body as well as your hair and/or beard. Use 10 drops of an essential oil blend per ounce of oil. Use it as much as you’d like.
Suggested essential oils: Frankincense (Boswellia sacra) is generally healing oil with an affinity for respiratory health. Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides) for its sedative and strengthening qualities. Blood Orange (Citrus sinensis) for immune strength and anti-viral properties, Rosewood (Aniba parviflora) for its ability to clear the mind. Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) is powerful against infections.
Steam inhalations can detox your skin, and soothe both your respiratory system and your emotions. Bring a pot of water about the size of your face to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool so you can hold your face over it. Add about 3 drops of essential oil blend to the water. Using a towel as a hood, breathe in the steam from the mixture for as long as you feel comfortable.

Great to use when your feeling run down or to restore immunity after you have recovered. These can be used to purify the air in a room, freshen your linens or wear as light cologne. In a 2 oz. spray bottle mix 1 part vodka and 1 part distilled water. Use 5-10 drops of essential oil blend per ounce
