We’ve had a couple of recipes that used Coffee infused sesame or jojoba oil and a number of of people have asked for directions on how to make this heavenly infusion, so here it is!
Supplies needed:
- Slightly ground coffee beans (Organic, if possible)
- Canning jar (size dependent on how much you want to make) OR
- Double boiler (if you need your coffee infused oil quicker than a cold infusion)
How to make: Cold Infusion
- Fill jar 1/4 full of slightly ground coffee beans (like for a drip coffee machine)
- Cover beans with Sesame or Jojoba oil.
- Label infusion with ingredients and date. Allow to infuse for 2- 4 weeks.
- Strain through cheesecloth or wire mesh strainer. (Cheesecloth comes in handy for removing any of the smaller bits of coffee).
- Pour infusion into a clean jar and label.
- It is now ready to use to make: Coffee infused Lip Balm, Coffee Whipped Butter, or our most loved, Cardamom Coffee scrub.
How to make: Warm Infusion
- Complete steps 1 and 2 above.
- Pour the jar of oil and coffee beans into a pot for the double boiler.
- Turn heat on medium to low.
- Allow oil to infuse for up to 5-7 hours. (Great thing to do on a cold autumn or winter day!)
- Strain through cheesecloth or wire mesh strainer. (Cheesecloth comes in handy for removing any of the smaller bits of coffee).
- Pour infusion into a clean jar and label.
- It is now ready to use.
