Litsea cubeba oil is distilled from the small, pepperlike fruits of the tree of Litsea cubeba. It belongs in the Lauraceae, which also includes Avocado (Persea sp.), Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis) and Cinnamon (Cinnamomum sp.). It contains a rich content of the aldehyde, citral. Citral has been shown to have some incredible properties including:

  • Anticarcinogenic
  • Antifungal/Antimycotic
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antispasmodic
  • Antiviral
  • Mosquito repellant
  • Motor relaxant
  • Sedative

Core Therapeutic Benefits of Litsea cubeba essential oil: Strong antiviral. Indicated for Herpes simplex I and II. Nerve sedative, useful for anxiety, nervousness or feeling of being overwhelmed. Antispasmodic. Can be used for menstrual cramps and/or painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea).

Herpes Simplex II Gel:

  • 2 fl. ounces Aloe Vera Gel
  • 1 tbsp. Tamanu oil
  • 15 drops Litsea cubeba
  • 8 drops Melissa (Melissa officinalis)
  • 10 drops Sandalwood (Santalum sp.)

Combine all ingredients together in 2 ounce glass jar, stir until well combined. Apply as needed –
at least 2-3 times a day.
