Ngoc Anh Nguyen Thi

Aromatic Studies: Vietnam

Born in a small village of the south of Vietnam, Ngoc Anh Nguyen Thi, grew up very close to nature. Her challenging health made her very early aware of the importance to find balance in her body and mind. Starting to learn Yoga in her teens, she was put in contact with herbal medicine by her grandfather, a traditional doctor who knew how to feed the curiosity of a kid by showing her that something magical was happening in the family garden. Convince that Nature has many secrets to reveal to those who know how to open their mind to the beauty of the world surrounding us, she found her way to university to learn about Vietnamese Native essential oils and skin care and become a cosmetic engineer in 2011.

Feeling that something essential was missing from that early formation, she decided to travel to France to learn about Natural Health and Beauty in a Spa institute near Grasse. There, she deepened her understanding of some of the technics that gave rise to the well-being industry.

Back in Vietnam, she worked in clinics for several years to learn more about the benefits of beauty technology, without finding exactly what she was searching for, as the natural part of it still eluded her. In the years that followed, while working as a Spa Manager in divers’ resorts around Vietnam, she continued to study aromatherapy on her own and through online courses, waiting for the good moment to go back to the source that inspired her first steps: traditional natural health care.

At the end of 2015, motivated and supported by some important encounters, like the shaman and aromatherapist Sylvia Galleguillos from Chile and the Buddhist practitioner Antoine Gresland, she decided to fund her own structure, Essensian, to help diffuse and deepen the knowledge of aromatherapy and traditional medicine in Vietnam. On the following years, she became accounted with different famous aromatherapists of the world, as Rodolphe Batz, creator of Sanoflore in France, who provided some of the knowledge and the oils that she couldn’t grow in Vietnam. As her understanding of the relationship between the body and the mind grown in the context of well-being, she studied Ayurveda and various meditative Buddhist practices to elaborate a more complete view of the field. Attracted by energy healing she worked on finding a holistic approach to incorporate kundalini yoga and spiritual practices to her teaching, without losing site of the core of aromatherapy.

For more than half a decade now, she works on the foundation of an aromatherapy community in Vietnam, through the opening of various level courses and workshops every year. She has designed and composed several series of products, using French and Vietnamese essential oils, that she proposes in the three shops she opened in Ha Noi, Saigon and Danang. On 2021, Anh took the opportunity to learn with Jade Shutes and engage in several courses from Aromatic studies school, where she became an instructor following her certification. Her never-ending voyage to understand nature makes her particularly sensible to all manifestation of life. As a passionate aromatherapy practitioner, she continues to search and learn about oils and fragrances, counselling and learning to a new generation the benefits of aromatherapy not only in the specific domain of the physical, but also as a bridge to establish balance between the body and the mind, incorporating everything she learned from her travels and experiences into a wide and holistic vision of healthcare.
